 Welcome

My name is Tempy Larew and I started Two Dog Pottery in 1998 when I moved to Palmer,  Alaska.  My studio is located in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, about 45 miles north of Anchorage on Finger Lake.  The studio has sweeping views of the Valley, Finger Lake, the Talkeetna and Chugach mountains.

During the Summer, you can find my booth at Anchorage's Saturday Market, in the fall, I will be at the Elmendorf Air Force Base's Artic Bazaar, Ft. Richardson's Country Fair,  Craft Emporium at the Egan Center, and Colony High School Christmas Bazaar in Palmer.

Our Mission

I am committed to making hand thrown stoneware pottery that is not only functional, practical, comfortable and durable, but also pleasing to the eyes!  All of the pottery that I make is food safe, lead free, microwave and dishwasher safe.  Each and every piece is individually hand thrown on a wheel, in other words, each piece is an individual as we all are.  I use no commercially produced glazes, preferring instead to formulate my own glazes from naturally occurring raw materials.  All the pottery is considered mid-range stoneware and is fired to cone 5 or cone 6,      (2185 degrees F and 2232 degrees F respectively).  The mugs, spoon rests, lotion bottles and utensil holders are all hand decorated with one of Alaska's most precious assets, her animals.  The pieces feature the following animals:  moose, bear, caribou, wolf and salmon.
